About BA – LLB
Bachelor
of Law, abbreviated to BA. LLB, is an integrated undergraduate course of
study in the field of law. This study program lasts for duration of
five years and can be pursued by a student after he has successfully
completed his 10+2 level board examination. The origin of this course of
study was in England; but today the study of law has been introduced in
every law abiding country of the world. There are specific colleges and
universities in India which provide the BA.LLB course of study to
aspiring students. In most cases, a student can seek admission to these
colleges / universities by successful completion of entrance tests
conducted by the law institutes followed by a group discussion and a
personal interview.
Law is one
of the most popular professional courses available to students in
India. Legal education in India is supervised and regulated by the Bar
Council of India. It was the Bar Council of India which introduced the
concept of autonomous law schools in the country that offer
undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the field of law. A student
who has earned the BA.LLB degree is qualified for practice of law in the
country. The legal profession is respectable and holds a number of
opportunities for a bright career. It can well be said that law is an
everyday part of human life. It is because of the existence of law that
an organization, a house or even a society functions without any
disturbances. Therefore even if there is a minor disruption in the day
to day functioning, a legal practitioner is summoned to the scene.
Skills Required
Though
academic qualifications are necessary to secure a job in the legal
profession, there are certain skill sets that a person must possess to
excel in his work as a legal practitioner. For instance, communication
skills and staging skills are very important to become a successful
lawyer. Needless to say, it is the law department that looks after
justice and well being of the society, therefore honesty is a
prerequisite to becoming a well known and successful lawyer.
Entrance Procedure
A
candidate sitting for an entrance test to pursue the BA.LLB course is
given questions which test his / her logical reasoning, legal knowledge,
general knowledge and school level English, mathematics and science
knowledge. While the graduation program of law, the BA.LLB degree, is
sufficient to secure a job in the legal sector of the country, there are
post graduation programs too that help to increase knowledge and give a
candidate a strong footing in the world of law.
